Corless Connection - Sterling Heights, Michigan - 30 May 2010

Dear Family,
Lovely and of Good Report - Mom & Dad finished plantitng the flowers in the front yard and deck (Mom), and the vegetables in the newly completed “Square Foot Garden” (Dad). It is such a relief to get that done.
Sharing the Gospel - Dad & Mom went with the Elders to teach Manuela Ruiz. Dad took the Elders and an investigator to the Mission Fireside in Livonia.
Making Memories - If having fun is any measure, the Family campout was a great success. Baseball, toad catching, campfire, smores, glow sticks, sleeping in a tent, playing in the water fountain, Lincoln logs, games, etc. were a part of the Friday evening fun. The next morning with little Rex in the old (1973 vintage) backpack, Papa went for a walk to show him all the neighborhood sights. Nona and the rest of the “campers” visted, talked and laughed as the guys returned form playing baskedtball and the grandkids woke up in the tent. The pancake, potatoes and egg breakfast was a very well attended and filling event enjoyed by all the particpants. It is such a joy to see the kids and grandkids all enjoying being with one another.
Date Night - Mom & Dad had a relaxing shrimp dinner at Red Lobster and met Ryan & Maureen at Lowe’s to help pick out the carpet and cabinets for the basement project.  Afterward, at the request of Abby and Sarah, Lara called to have an iChat - video call - with Papa and Nona, who enjoyed very much the news, sights and sounds of their action packed family.  Thanks to everyone for their part in making such a wonderful weekend for us all.  Tomorrow, we will get together one more time to grill some burgers and enjoy the holiday and to remember those who given their all for our freedom.  We hope the weather holds up.  It is been great lately but they are predicting thunderstorms for Monday.  We’ll see.
Love y’all,
Mom & Dad

Birthday Celebration

Birthday Party May 2010
Cousin Buddies Celebrating Papa's Birthday

Youngest Corless and Mom

Corless Connection - Sterling Heights, Michigan 23 May 2010

Happy Birthday to Dan & Dad!
Temple Adventure - Mom & Dad bravely completed their first shift as temple workers. It was filled with learning as will be the next several weeks. The other experienced workers are very helpful and kind to the beginners. Dad was glad to see Jim & Vanessa there even if it was just for a moment.
Mother’s Day prolonged - Mom’s Mother’s Day gift from Dad finally arrived. One Eternal Round is the last book of Hugh Nibley. Mom and Dad both love it!
Garden of Corless’ - Dad helped Ryan build and install a garden box and then made one for him & Mom. Dad’s design has legs to get it off the ground away from the neighborhood rabbits and minimizes painful kneeling and bending down to tend it.
Movie Night - Michael, Mom & Dad went to “Robin Hood” with Russell Crowe as Robin. Good story/legend of bad guys and worse guys, lots of action, sprinkled with bloody violence.
The Plumbers - Ryan & Dad installed the vanity, sink and toilet in the basement bathroom on Saturday afternoon, thus getting one step closer to getting it fully operational.  The boxes that the vanity came in were a source of great entertainment for Preston, Jacob and Sophia as they turned them into a club house and a space ship.
Birthday Party - Jim, Vanessa, Tyler, Samantha, Joshua, and Olivia and Ryan & Maureen, Preston, Jacob, Sophia and Rex joined Mom and Michael for a lasagna and salad dinner, raspberry chocolate cake, lemon meringue pie, canoe rides and candy game to celebrate Papa’s birthday.  The sun was shining, the sky blue; it was a great day!
Love y’all,
Mom & Dad

Dear Family,
Tryin’ to Help out - Dad gave rides Tyler and Samantha to fill-in while Jim was gone to California on business (Off-roading 4X4 and AWD drive evaluations). Helped Ryan install two more doors and trim in the basement. Helped Holli with chest of drawers on Wednesday morning.
Temple - Mom & Dad have been called by President Schilling to serve in the Temple on Tuesday evenings starting this week.  Mom, Dad, Ryan, Maureen, and Michael served in a sealing session on Saturday evening and went to dinner afterward.
Still Coughing - Dad had another breathing test, which just about did him in, just to verify he does not have asthma. He still has the cough after 4 weeks of antibiotic. Next step is an appointment with the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist to see he figure it out the coughing cause.
Father & Son Campout - After several days of rain we had the most beautiful weekend weather. Friday night, Dad went with Ryan, Preston and Jacob and they were joined by Jim, Tyler and Joshua at Camp Rotary for the overnight campout. They all slept in the pop-up camper after the campfire program.
Relief Society - Mom is very busy seeing to all the affairs and activities of the ladies in the ward, including visits and preparing for the Ward Conference next Sunday.
Youth Firesiide - Today our ward youth came to our home for an awesome fireside about testimony given by Michael.
Love y’all,
Mom & Dad

Corless Connection - Sterling Heights, Michigan - 9 May 2010

Dear Family,
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the Moms in the family - You are awesome!
A Couple of Hacks - Mom has started to sleep better night so she has been feeling much better (inspite of still some coughing ...) and returning to her normal hectic schedule of meetings and visits. Dad is still wheezing and coughing after three weeks of antibiotic (apparently, his biotics are still out of balance).
Ladies Soccer Night Out - Dad photographed Vanessa & Maureen’s Monday night soccer game and posted them on the website. These two ladies can run circles around most of the players.  Go girls!
Vegetables R Us - Mom & Dad attended a class on “Squarefoot Gardening”. It was very interesting - Dad is trying to figure out what the rabbits and deer would like to eat before he starts his garden.
Middle Eastern cuisine - Friday night date - Mom & Dad went with Ryan & Maureen to “Sahara”. Later they watched a comedy “Old Dogs”
See Food Diet - Dad took Mom to “Big Fish” for a pre-Mother’s day dinner of delicious seafood.  Later, they joined Michael and watched “Iron Man 2” at AMC 30.  It was fun!
Love y’all,Mom & Dad

Corless Connection - Sterling Heights, Michigan - 2 May 2010

Dear Family,
Biotic Balance - Apparently, Mom & Dad have too many “biotics” because they are both on “antibiotics”.  Isn’t Medical science amazing? Hopefully, their biotics will be back in balance again very soon. Mom’s visit to the Doctor on Monday resulted in not only an antibiotic, but a narcotic (codeine) so she can now sleep longer between coughing caniptions and get the much needed and appreciated rest.  It didn’t really do the trick and she so back with good old Nyquil.
Coughing Corless’ - Mom & Dad are quite the duet as they “hack” their way through each day. They must be single handedly stimulating the economy through the consumption of all the medicine and tissue paper.  This growing old thing is not for the faint-hearted!
Earning & Learning - Michael is getting landscaping experience and getting paid for at the rate of 10-12 hours a day - leaving early in the morning and coming home late in the evening from Romeo. We are grateful he has a job - it is a blessing.  The crew leaders want Michael on their work teams. He will be working at the Lakeside Hollister once a week. He attended YSA ward on Sunday and reconnected with a friend - Andrew Lovell who is getting ready to serve a mission.
Saturday’s entertainment - Dad helped Ryan grout the tile in the basement bathroom wall and photographed Olivia’s Dance Recital.   (gallery.me.com/rcorless)
We hope is well with you.
Love y’all, Mom & Dad
